Installation and Application Note

The correct application of PTFE sealing tape is crucial for the tightness of the connection. The sealing effect is achieved by the compression of the PTFE material that occurs during screwing.

1. Preparation: The thread must be clean, grease-free, and dry. Remove old sealant residues.

2. Tape Direction: The tape must be wound onto the male thread clockwise. This corresponds to the tightening direction and prevents the tape from unraveling during assembly.

3. Winding Technique: Start at the end of the thread and work towards the fitting side. Wrap the tape overlapping so that the surface of the thread is completely covered. Ensure that no parts of the tape extend beyond the thread into the pipe or circuit.

4. Number of Layers: The required number of layers depends on the thread tolerance and diameter. For 1/2 inch threads, usually 6 to 10 wraps are sufficient. The thread should still be slightly visible after wrapping.

5. Assembly: Screw the connection tightly, but without excessive force, as this can destroy the sealing layer. A slightly increased resistance when tightening is normal.
