Extended Installation and Tuning Instructions (Important!)
Since this is a high-performance tuning carburetor, installation and operation require solid technical knowledge to ensure optimal performance and engine protection.
Important Note on Checking
This is a tuning carburetor. Installation and the necessary jetting adjustments require expert knowledge and must be carried out precisely to prevent engine damage. ABSOLUTELY check that the connection dimensions (35 mm intake manifold, 49 mm air filter) match your vehicle before purchasing.
Installation and Basic Setup
-
Preparation: Ensure that all seals, especially those on the intake manifold, are intact to prevent false air (vacuum leaks). False air can lean out the mixture and lead to engine damage.
-
Choke and Throttle Cable: Connect the choke cable (manual choke) and the throttle cable. Ensure that the throttle cable runs smoothly without kinks or resistance and that the throttle slide in the carburetor fully closes and opens.
-
Vacuum Connection: If your engine requires a vacuum connection (e.g., for a fuel tap), use the existing connection. Otherwise, it must be carefully sealed with a suitable cap.
Detailed Tuning (Jet Set)
-
Main Jet (Full Throttle): The main jet is the most important tuning jet. Run the vehicle at full throttle (e.g., in the highest gear at top speed) and check the spark plug color. For a tuning carburetor, the main jet almost always needs to be replaced with a larger one to protect the engine from overheating (mixture too lean = whitish spark plug). The goal is a light brown plug color.
-
Pilot Jet and Needle Jet (Partial Throttle): These jets influence cold start behavior, idle, and the partial throttle range. Adjust the position of the carburetor needle step by step (clip up = leaner, clip down = richer) to achieve the best throttle response and acceleration in the mid-RPM range.
-
Powerjet Function: The Powerjet is calibrated for the upper RPM range. It should only release fuel when the throttle slide is almost completely open (approx. 7/8 throttle). It supports the main jet and can ensure clean combustion at the absolute top end.
Caution: An untuned or incorrectly jetted carburetor can lead to immediate engine damage. Consult a specialist workshop if you are uncertain.
