Installation and Basic Setup

Intake Manifold: Ensure that you are using an intake manifold with a 36 mm connection diameter suitable for this VM20 carburetor. The standard intake manifold will not fit.

Sealing: Always use new gaskets and check the intake manifold for cracks or leaks to prevent the drawing of false air (vacuum leaks). False air leads to an extremely lean mixture and can cause piston seizures.

Cable Routing: Connect the throttle cable and choke cable so they operate smoothly and without binding. Check that the throttle slide closes completely when the throttle grip is released.
Detailed Tuning (Jetting)

Tuning Requirement: The carburetor is supplied with a basic jetting that almost always needs to be adjusted (tuned) for your specific engine. Correct jetting depends heavily on the installed cylinder, air filter, and exhaust.
